The Department of Medicine is honoring the life and mourning the passing of Terence O’Grady, M.D., Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Dermatology and the Department of Pathology.

Dr. O’Grady passed away on September 17 at the age of 60. He had battled with pancreatic cancer.

Dr. O’Grady, who directed the Dermatology Residency Training Program, was deeply appreciated for his leadership in teaching and clinical care in the Department of Medicine.

“Terry was a friend of the department, of medical education, and of clinical excellence,” said Dr. Kenneth Kaushansky, Helen M. Ranney Professor and Chair of the Department.

He described Dr. O’Grady as an inspired physician and educator.

The Division of Dermatology has established an endowed lectureship in Dr. O’Grady’s memory. The Terence O’Grady Dermatology Lectureship will provide funding to bring top dermatology experts to UCSD to present special lectures and educational activities.

Dr. O’Grady is survived by his wife and two daughters, his mother, and his brother.The family has asked that any gestures in honor of Dr. O’Grady’s memory be made in the form of donations to his lectureship fund.
