American Board of Allergy and Immunology elects Dr. Stephen I. Wasserman as president

Dr. Stephen I. Wasserman has been elected president of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.

He will serve in 2009 as president-elect and begin his term as president in January 2010.

Division of Geriatrics Receives $2 Million Grant from Larry L. Hillblom Foundation for Research on Aging

A $2 million research grant from the Larry L. Hillblom Foundation will provide support for the Division of Geriatrics in its ongoing studies of aging.

HandsIn an April 23 press release, the UC San Diego Medical Center announced the grant and introduced the Division of Geriatrics, which is the newest of the subspecialty divisions in the Department of Medicine.

The studies to be supported by the grant are detailed in the UC San Diego Medical Center press release.

The Geriatrics division was established in July 2007 with Laura L. Dugan, M.D., as division chief and holder of the Larry L. Hillblom Chair in Geriatric Medicine.
